Once the design activities have been carried out, CGS Ambiente performs the installation and commissioning of specific reclamation systems in the area to be treated, both in the terrain and the groundwater.
The land reclamation systems applied by CGS are as follows:
Direct removal of contaminated soil and treatment/disposal at authorised plants (off site).
Stabilisation and solidification. Method used primarily for the reclamation of soil contaminated with metals, dioxins and PCBs, involving the addition of binders or additives to the contaminated soil to be treated.
Soil vapour extraction and bioventing. Method that provides for vapour extraction and/or air insufflation in the subsoil and enables the extraction/degradation of volatile or semi-volatile pollutants present in the soil to be treated.
Biopile. Technique for the treatment of contaminated soil involving the addition of nutrients and forced ventilation that stimulates the biodegradation activities of pollutants.
The methods for the reclamation of groundwater are implemented through the following systems:
Pumping and treatment of water (pump & treat). System involving pumping of contaminated groundwater and its subsequent treatment on the surface.
Dual phase high vacuum extraction. Multiphase extraction system for contamination through the application of high pressure systems in the subsurface.
Air sparging and Biosparging. Reclamation system based on the injection of air into the groundwater and the simultaneous extraction of volatile compounds generated through the "stripping" of organic substances dissolved in groundwater.
Accelerated biodegradation. It consists of the degradation of polluting compounds through the gradual release of agents of oxygen or other compounds (ORC, HRC etc.).
